Sapnon Ka Shahar - City of Dreams

Located outside Arrival hall

Sapnon Ka Shahar (The City of Dreams) welcomes passengers into Mumbai through a sequence of illuminated rings and double sided circular displays that create a dynamic visual pathway between the airport and the city beyond. Framing arrival as the beginning of a new journey, the installation presents Mumbai as a place of opportunity, ambition and reinvention. Familiar characters, landmarks and everyday moments are reimagined through futuristic narratives, blending cultural memory with visions of a city shaped by possibility and imagination.

Drawing inspiration from Mumbai's enduring identity as a destination for dreamers, the installation explores speculative futures rooted in the city's unique character and spirit. Through evolving visual stories that span coastal ecologies, mobility systems, housing, street culture, technology and cinematic mythology, the artworks imagine Mumbai in 2050 while remaining grounded in its cultural heritage. Through light, movement and storytelling, Sapnon Ka Shahar becomes a portal between present and future, inviting travellers to experience the city as a living dream that continues to evolve through aspiration, creativity and collective imagination.
