About NMIA
NMIA, slated to be one of India’s largest greenfield airports, is constructed and operated by Adani Airport Holdings Ltd. (AAHL) The airport is scheduled to start commercial operations in the last quarter of 2025. The masterful design of the terminal is influenced by India’s national flower, the lotus.
In the launch phase, the airport aims to serve 20 million passengers per annum (MPPA) and handle 0.5 Million Metric Tons (MMT) of Cargo.
About NMIAL
In 2016, a global bid to develop an airport at Navi Mumbai was issued by the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Limited (CIDCO). The contract to develop this airport was awarded to Mumbai International Airport Private Limited (MIAL) on 25 October 2017.
Subsequently, MIAL and CIDCO came together to create Navi Mumbai International Airport Pvt. Ltd. (NMIAL) – a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to oversee the development, construction, operation, and maintenance of the greenfield international airport project in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.
The project is being executed under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) framework on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) basis. MIAL holds 74 percent equity shareholding, while CIDCO holds the remaining 26 percent equity shareholding in NMIAL.
In April 2021, AAHL took over the management of Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd.
