About Maha Katha
Maha Katha meaning “great story”, transforms waiting time into a journey of reflection and discovery. Displayed across vast 9m and 6m circular screens, the artwork gently unfolds like an ever-flowing narrative never seen before, weaving together history, memory, and the rhythm of everyday life. Inspired by Maharashtra, it evokes monsoon rains, fields of silver, and the festive heartbeat of its people-moments both intimate and timeless. Passengers are invited to pause, slow down, and immerse themselves in this unfolding visual poetry. More than an installation, Maha Katha is a sanctuary within the airport, where familiar and unexpected stories intertwine, reminding us that every journey begins within before it takes us outward.
In close collaboration with the NMIAL team, the installations of the Digital Art Program are conceived, designed, curated and produced by TMS TAMSCHICK MEDIA+SPACE (Berlin), in collaboration with WOWSPACELAB (Berlin), TAMSCHICK EXHIBITION VENTURES (Berlin), Valentin Trillo Architects (Sevilla), m-box (Berlin), BeWunder (Berlin) and switch and roy studio (Goa).

The Vayeda Brothers
Warli Artists
Mumbai, Maharashtra
Rooted in the Warli tradition, Mayur and Tushar Vayeda were selected for their unique ability to weave ancestral stories with contemporary relevance. Their practice naturally embodies themes of continuity, memory, and cultural evolution.
Their Artwork - Beej: The Living Journey follows the life of a seed as it moves through cycles of growth, transformation, and renewal. What makes this work truly groundbreaking is its reimagination of traditional Warli art into a three-dimensional form. Beginning as a hand-painted Warli narrative created using bamboo sticks, the artwork transcends the two-dimensional plane and is brought to life through animation and spatial depth.
Indrajit Khambe
Documentary Photographer
Sindhudurg, Maharashtra
A photographer and visual storyteller, Indrajit brings a tender, observant eye to Maharashtra’s rural life. His work resonates with the installation’s intention to elevate small, fleeting moments into stories of quiet significance.
His artwork - Rhythm in Solitude - captures the subtle drama of ordinary life through moving images of everyday rural scenes —the pauses, gestures, and rhythms that often go unnoticed. The work is an invitation into a contemplative space where simplicity becomes profound and the mundane becomes poetic.
